MadAboutDesign (MAD) is more than a name.
It’s an identity, a mindset, and a lifelong obsession with design done to make a difference.
Founded in Singapore in 1994, and shaped by a 16-year adventure in Shanghai serving multinational clients across China, Asia Pacific, and beyond, MAD returns to its roots in the Little Red Dot — now as a deliberately lean, one-man studio.
Today, MAD works closely with homegrown SMEs and social enterprises to elevate their brand presence and cut through the noise — with clarity, character, and craft.

Meet Kent the MADman. Designer by instinct, problem-solver by training — and still curious after all these years.
MAD has taken Kent from Singapore to a 16-year run in Shanghai, working with Fortune 500s, MNCs and Chinese enterprises across branding, advertising, PR, film production, character and product design, and more. Along the way, he also served as Associate Creative Director with branding firm Gramco Shanghai, advertising agency AACC, and PR firm OComm Shanghai, and later as Group ECD at The Activation Group, Singapore and Communication Partner at ML Alliance.
Today, he’s back home, running a one-man studio and doing the kind of work he believes in: simple, thoughtful, and to the point.
Beyond client work, Kent has always been drawn to building communities. He has led and served in various volunteer roles across Singapore and Shanghai, including co-founding SingCham Shanghai and helping to revive the Singapore business community as its Secretary-General from 2017 to 2019.
Before that, he graduated from NUS with a B.Sc. in Computer Science (Information Systems) and spent 10 years in the Singapore Armed Forces, eventually serving as an NS battalion commander. That experience still shapes how he works today — disciplined, hands-on, getting things done, and always asking: why not?
He’s effectively bilingual (with a bit of Cantonese thrown in). When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him sketching everyday people and urban moments, reading Chinese literature, or quietly observing the world around him.
He connects dots.
He believes in people.
He may no longer be out to change the world, but he still believes good work can make a difference.
